Jewellery Mobile Phones
We created our first jewellery mobile phone in 2004 for the Tahitian Pearl Trophy an international jewellery competition. We won absolute first prize with the piece at a competition in the United States or America, and from the several thousand competitors, our phone was awarded second place at the Tahitian Pearl Trophy in its the male accessory category as well as numerous other prizes at various jewellery competitions.
This telephone characterizes our point of view very clearly. It is unique and unreproducible both in its outer appearance and inner quality. Its free form was based on a seashell, its individually cut and chiseled keypad, its surface embellished with pearls and diamonds, its organic, ergonometric form and special solutions all have made the Frutto di Mare mobile phone a completely unique jewellery specialty.
We have since made several other gold mobile phones with completely different shapes and proportions. The common characteristic is their unique phone. This is how they become personalized, unique and truly rare works of art.
The changing of covers on mobile phones and other electronic gadgets or objects is be no means a ”routine procedure”. Such tasks have to be preceded by a lengthy design phase taking into account the needs of our client, the characteristics of the object ( size, controls, connectors, open-ability, isolation and health-related issues). Since these objects are of a substantial size, there is ample opportunity for expressing personal characteristics or style, so such items can easily be personalized in an attractive and impressive way.
However, due to the inherent complexity of mobile phones, there are small intricate details that we have to take into account, experiment with and often redesign until we reach perfection.
Of course a more simple base, for example that of an iPhone, allows greater freedom to design a unique, personalized item than a phone that can be opened, has extra buttons, a built in camera and other accessories.
It is exactly this why this area of jewellery-making is so extremely complex and rare. Gold mobile phones decorated with diamonds and other precious stones can be bought off the shelf, but these have a simple block shape and are part of a series rather than being one-of-a-kind. We at Splendor- Jewellery, however, offer unique, one-off phones to fit our client's own personal style. The possibilities are vast and are guided only by the client's needs.
